October 26, 2026
NEWTOWN SQUARE, Pa. (Oct. 26, 2026) – Trinity Health Mid-Atlantic was a proud sponsor of the American Heart Association’s (AHA) Philadelphia Heart Walk on Saturday, October 24. Together, Mercy Fitzgerald Hospital, Nazareth Hospital and St. Mary Medical Center surpassed their fundraising goal, raising more than $44,000 for AHA Pennsylvania.
The next day, Trinity Health Mid-Atlantic colleagues from Saint Francis Hospital participated in the Wilmington Heart Walk at the Tubman Garrett Riverfront Park on Sunday, Oct. 25. Saint Francis Hospital raised more than $8,500 for AHA Delaware.
The Heart Walk events support the AHA’s mission to improve cardiovascular health, a critical effort given that heart disease remains the nation’s top cause of death.
Le-Ann Harris, DNP, MHA, RN, NEA-BC, regional chief nursing officer and interim president of Mercy Fitzgerald Hospital and Saint Francis Hospital, and Michael Magro Jr., DO, MBA, FACOI, president of Nazareth Hospital and St. Mary Medical Center, served as co-chairs of the Trinity Health Mid-Atlantic Philadelphia Heart Walk team.
“Every day, we care for patients and families whose lives have been affected by heart disease and stroke,” said Harris. “Participating in the Heart Walk is an opportunity to extend that mission into our communities by supporting lifesaving research, education and prevention efforts.”
Funds raised through both Heart Walk events support the AHA’s goal to reduce the impact of cardiovascular disease and stroke through groundbreaking research, CPR education, advocacy and community health initiatives. The event also provided an opportunity to celebrate survivors, honor loved ones lost to heart disease and raise awareness about the importance of cardiovascular health.
“Whether colleagues participated by walking, fundraising, donating or helping spread the word, every contribution made a difference,” said Magro. “Together, we demonstrated the power of coming together around a shared purpose: creating healthier communities for the people we serve.”
The American Heart Association will continue accepting Heart Walk donations through December.
