About the Nazareth Hospital Emergency Department

ED buttonNazareth Hospital’s emergency department (ED) provides leading edge, timely care in the hands of caring, experienced and highly skilled medical professionals—24 hours a day, 365 days a year. The ED is staffed by physicians’ board-certified in emergency medicine, along with highly skilled emergency medicine residents, physician assistants (PAs) and certified registered nurse practitioners (CRNPs). Our team prides ourselves on delivering high-quality, compassionate medical care to our community and the surrounding region.

The ED sees nearly 50,000 patients per year and serves a diverse patient population. Nazareth Hospital also has a nationally certified primary stroke center and a 24/7 emergency cardiac catheterization laboratory, that provides comprehensive emergency services supported by multidisciplinary specialty teams.

Through our ED, patients can get the care they need for medical emergencies. Notable emergency capabilities include upgrades to our cardiac monitoring and defibrillation equipment, as well as a CT Scan machine for unique imaging needs. Nazareth also is known for our nationally certified stroke care and emergency cardiac catheterization.

We understand that visiting the ED can feel overwhelming, especially during times of illness or uncertainty. With these concerns in mind, we aim to help you understand what to expect during your visit and address some of the most common questions you and your family may have about your illness.

Patients who require admission

Some patients who require additional treatment will need to be admitted. We will seamlessly transition your emergency department care to the appropriate inpatient team or arrange a transfer as necessary. You will be in great hands with our caring inpatient teams.

Nazareth Hospital is a community hospital and while we are equipped to triage and stabilize emergencies of all types, we do not have certain specialized services. As a result, some patients may require transfer to our sister hospital, St. Mary’s Medical Center, or another facility. In these cases, our care team will coordinate and manage all transfer details to ensure a smooth and safe transition.
